Moving to a country like China can be an overwhelming experience at times (particularly when you cannot speak Chinese) but you will never feel as though there is nobody to help you when you get stuck or feeling overwhelmed.
As soon as you sign up, you will be in contact with the onsite representative in Shanghai, who will assist you with all your inquiries related to the course or departure. Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport to be transported to the hotel where you will be staying for the duration of the course. If requested, we can even assist you in opening a bank account and acquiring a local sim card to make your transition to China that much easier!
Our offices are located in downtown Shanghai (Jing'an District), and this is where our recruiting staff works. They're tasked with selecting a number of suitable positions for you to pick from once you've graduated. Restaurants offering a variety of cuisines are within walking distance; there are Western, Cantonese, Japanese and local Chinese eateries. For those who do not want to leave the school, most companies offer delivery and you can ask our trainers for assistance in ordering. Prices range from 1 to 10 dollars for a meal, with most decent places averaging at 3-5 dollars for a meal. Breakfast items can be purchased for as little as fifty cents.
Our school (where most of our course takes place) is located on Hong Kou district, and within walking distance of a large subway station. This is where both the Training Sessions and Observed Teaching Practice lessons will be held. It is in the heart of a commercial area with plenty of restaurants and other shops nearby. OTP sessions at low-income primary schools are conducted at a number of schools around Shanghai and we typically hire a van to drive to and from the locations. It is located in downtown Shanghai; conveniently located very close to a metro station and in close proximity to loads of different shops and malls.
The facilities at the school are also very comfortable. Every classroom has a whiteboard plus desks, individual chairs, and a projector. You also have use of a color printer, photocopier and a laminator. There is also Wi-Fi available and we also have some toys (dice, toy hammers etc.) that you can use in your lessons during your teaching practices. There is a very unique feel to Shanghai as there were so many concessions (designated districts) to Western powers during the turn of the 20th century. There are distinctly Chinese neighborhoods, but also European style districts from classic Parisian style, to Tudor style buildings that give an English flair and 1930's buildings reminiscent of New York or Chicago.
The Shanghai location is built on the foundation that you can have anything you want if you just help enough people get what they want. Our mission is to:
a) Improve the global teaching abroad industry.
b) Help others have amazing experiences abroad.
c) Provide an outstanding lifestyle for our employees.
d) Develop the global teaching abroad environment by providing teachers with jobs in schools they can trust, believe in and enjoy working at. In turn, we will provide schools with committed, excited teachers that will always maintain the highest standards of learning. In facilitating successful placements we are changing lives by helping others to experience global travel and bridge cross cultural awareness.
We will provide an outstanding lifestyle for personal and professional growth!
